Yes, our hens are third party certified free range. Our happy hens love to enjoy fresh air and pasture every day during mild weather. In the winter time, they prefer to stay indoors where it’s warm, but they do get fresh air in their sheltered winter barn.

No, our eggs are not organic. Our hens are fed a balanced custom commercial feed blend.

Yes, our beef is grass-fed and grass-finished with our own forage grown right here at Springford Farm. Our herd spends the majority of their time freely roaming and grazing our pastures.
About 10-15% of our herd’s diet comes from high-quality spent grains from a local brewery. By the time our cows enjoy these grains, they are primarily protein as the majority of the starch is used in the beer-making process.

No, our beef is not organic.

Yes, all of the animal products we sell in our store are both hormone and antibiotic free. While we may use antibiotics to care for our animals if they are sick, we do so sparingly and only at the recommendation of our veterinarian to treat infection. Our animals are then isolated during their recovery until they are healthy and antibiotic free.

Some of it may be organic although not certified. It depends on the varying farming practises of each individual farm - feel free to ask when you are in our market!

We do not accept specific pre-orders of our beef unless you are purchasing a large quantity such as a side of beef. Whatever we have in our storefront is what we currently have available. Feel free to call us to check if we have your favourite cut in stock!

Unfortunately we are not permitted to re-use our customers' egg cartons due to Canadian Food Inspection Agency regulations.

Yes, we accept all Cowichan Milk Company empty glass bottles for a $2 return. Your empty must be clean and rinsed, and we do not need the lid back. We do not accept Avalon milk bottles.

We do not sell our manure. Everything our livestock generates is used on our farm.

No, at this time we are not offering tours.

We have a responsibility to uphold biosecurity, and cannot allow the general public through to certain areas. We are also a working farm, so it is dangerous for visitors to be wandering the roads on our farm. Please respect all signage, and do not feed the animals!
