Full-Time General Farm Worker

This is a permanent, year-round, full-time farming position, including weekends and holidays. This is an opportunity to grow with our team for someone who may already have horticulture or agriculture experience, or who would like to learn.

Duties will include both indoor and outdoor work:

  • Harvesting, weeding, irrigation, grass cutting, feeding livestock, property maintenance, egg collecting and egg grading, general labourer duties and miscellaneous farm chores.

Education required:

  • No formal education required

  • First Aid certification is an asset

  • Priority given to agriculture students currently enrolled in post-secondary schooling

Experience & skills:

  • Valid driver's license required for equipment operation

  • Ability to perform physically demanding work in all weather conditions

  • Simple math skills

  • Teamwork and ability to work independently

  • Positive attitude and good communication skills

  • Problem solving skills

  • Experience operating equipment an asset

  • Experience in outdoor physical labour an asset

  • Agriculture and/or horticulture experience an asset

Part-Time Egg Grader & Market Crew Member

Are you passionate about food, experienced in customer service and retail settings, and eager to play a pivotal role in our local food system? If you are seeking a growth opportunity and are excited about the idea of working in a farm environment, we want you to join our team at Springford Farm!

We're searching for a dedicated individual to fill a dynamic and unique position that blends egg grading with market responsibilities. This permanent, part-time, year-round role will include 1-2 weekly shifts on our egg grading crew, and 1-2 weekly shifts in our farm market. There will be more hours available through the summertime.

Starting at minimum wage (currently $17.40/hr), with a performance review and wage negotiation scheduled after 60 days, this position offers an exciting opportunity for someone who:

- Demonstrates a passion for local food, farming, and nutrition

- Possesses excellent customer service skills

- Has previous experience in agriculture, retail or customer service roles

- Is comfortable with working alongside machinery, collaboratively in a team setting

- Exhibits strong verbal and written communication abilities

- Is reliable, punctual, and adaptable to new tasks

- Is comfortable with repetitive duties, particularly egg grading

- Has a keen attention to detail especially related to safe food handling and cleanliness

As an integral member of our team, you'll need to commit to working 2-3 shifts per week. We can be somewhat flexible with your days of work, however we are looking for someone who can help with:

  • Egg grading Mondays and Wednesdays (6 to 8 hour shifts)

  • Flexible availability to cover shifts in our market Thursdays and Fridays, with occasional weekend shifts

Flexibility for additional shifts and vacation coverage is appreciated. Additional hours will be offered during the summer season.

Your responsibilities will include… 

Egg Grading Duties:

- Cleaning, inspecting, and packaging eggs

- Ensuring thorough cleaning and sanitization of egg grading facilities and equipment

- Adhering to all Canadian Food Inspection Agency policies and procedures

Market Duties:

- Providing friendly and efficient customer service

- Operating the point-of-sale system

- Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the market area

- Conducting general cleaning tasks in the market, warehouse, fridges, and freezers

- Assisting with product inventory tasks such as receiving, inspecting, rotating, pricing, and stocking

Education/Requirements:

- High school diploma

- Level 1 first aid certification (preferred)

- Food safe certificate (preferred)

- Willingness to undergo on-the-job training

- Ability to work indoors and on weekends

- Capacity to stand for 8-hour shifts and lift up to 50 lbs regularly, and engage in repetitive upper body movements
